In our continuing commitment to the quality of life in and the appearance of Burnt Store Isles (BSI), the Burnt Store Isles Association (BSIA) would like to introduce our new BSIA Emergency Operations Plan.
The document provides a framework for use by BSIA in responding to and supporting emergency functions during a major disaster or a wide range of potential emergency incidents occurring in areas within BSI. The document also serves as a reference manual for residents of BSI to assist in planning for the possibility of any given incident and not necessarily the probability of incident occurrence.
BSI is reliant on the city of Punta Gorda and Charlotte County for law, fire, and emergency Services. In the event of an emergency, first contact should always be with these organizations. The BSIA Emergency Plan is intended to support and not to interfere with and/or impede the efforts of these organizations. Exercising personal responsibility for emergency planning and evacuation is incumbent on all Burnt Store Isles residents.

To ensure our neighborhood's safety, we have cameras at the entrances to BSI at both Monaco and Madrid as well as a camera in the empty lot aimed at the lock which accesses Alligator Creek. For the privacy of our residents, video from our surveillance cameras will only be given to our Punta Gorda Police Department to view or to use. Video is not for personal residential use, unless requested through proper channels of the Punta Gorda Police Department.
But our vigilant residents are our best security system. So if you see something, say something! Call the police ASAP!
BSIA wishes you to follow proper procedures if you experience or witness an incident within our neighborhood:
1) Call 911, or the non-emergency PGPD line. 941-639-4111.
2) Fill out an incident report with the PGPD.
3) Make a note of the date AND time frame the incident occurred, as well as any other helpful information, i.e. make, model and color of a vehicle, and/or description of a suspect.
Thank you,
BSIA Security Director
