To successfully implement the above program, both Neighborhood Captains and Street Reps are necessary.  Please consider volunteering for these positions (where still available).  The duties of the two positions follow.

 

Neighborhood Captains:  BSI has been arbitrarily divided into 10 neighborhoods.  Each neighborhood will have a “Captain.”  Neighborhood Captains’ duties include recruiting Street Reps for each of the streets in their neighborhood.  Each neighborhood captain will have several street reps that he will be responsible for.  As the street reps develop situations, the neighborhood captain will, when necessary, funnel this information to the appropriate Board member who will take it from there.  The reverse can be true for information coming from the Board to individual neighborhoods and/or streets. 

 

Street Reps:  Each of the 52 streets in BSI will have a “Rep.”  Some of the duties of the rep will be to field problems from their neighbors.  When necessary, these will be transmitted to the neighborhood captain and on up.  It is anticipated that some number of these problems will be from non-BSIA members.  So, while some of those will be addressable by the Association, some may not be.  Another duty will be to update the EDR forms (example, new baby is born to existing family; spouse dies, etc.).  Also, the Rep will watch for families moving out—advise EDR information should be removed.  And, advise BSIA Welcome Committee of new arrivals on the street, along with other miscellaneous duties.
