The Burnt Store Isles Association (BSIA) Safety and Security Committee
is chaired by the member of the Board elected to fulfill
these responsibilities. The Security Director is responsible for planning,
organizing and supervising such programs/policies as may be needed to protect
the health, safety and well-being of BSI residents. These activities may
include home security, traffic problems, and related educational programs.
The Security Director is authorized to appoint such Security Committee members
as may needed to perform these responsibilities. Additionally, the Security
Director or his/her designee interacts with local police, fire and governmental
entities as needed to carry out these responsibilities and
otherwise act in the best interest of Burnt Store Isles residents and their
association (BSIA). A key element of this function is a BSIA Neighborhood
Watch program (NWP). The NWP is a nationwide activity designed to deter local
crime through the use of the local citizenry to patrol local
streets and report to the police, any suspicious activity.
Even though participation in our BSI Neighborhood Watch Program has waned over the past year the incident that took place yesterday just reinforces the need and importance of having a Neighborhood Watch Program. That's why at this time we are asking for Volunteers to get involved in your community by joining the BSI Neighborhood Watch Program. We request that all previous Watch members please consider getting involved again by giving me a call to arrange for patrol time. For those wishing to join the Watch program for the first time there are a couple of steps necessary to initiate the process. Please give me a call or send me an e-mail and I will be happy to discuss the details with you. We need everyone's help to revitalize and Strengthen our program so these types of situations never occur again.
